Our website

All text and image content used on this web site expand based on your preferred text-size set using your browser’s controls. You can “zoom in” to magnify the content using your browser’s font size settings.

Cantonian High School's site is built on W3C valid XHTML 1.0 Strict for structure and CSS for presentation, meaning that it should play with just about any web browser, though there may be visual differences (PDA's may render layouts strangely). Every page can be checked for the quality of its coding by clicking the XHTML and CSS W3C validator links in the footer of every page.

Please let us know if you have any problems at all using the site. We will endeavour to rectify any problems.

We also conform to the Level A of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, including all Priority 1 checkpoints defined in the Guidelines. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 explain how to make Web content accessible to people with disabilities and other debilitating conditions such as dyslexia, color blindness, and mobility / dexterity impairment caused by conditions like arthritis. These guidelines were defined by the Web Accessibility Initiative as part of the World Wide Web Consortium. Conformance to these Guidelines benefits all users, and the organisation Cantonian High School is proud to be 100% behind these principles.

standards compliant XHTML 1.0

XHTML is a computer language that describes the content of a web page. The display of the XHTML logo shows that we have complied with the standard and that this has been verified using tools available from W3C (world wide web consortium). Strict adherence to this standard helps avoid browser incompatibility issues.

standards compliant CSS 2.1

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a system that describes how to lay out and format a web page defined in XHTML. The website has only one file describing layout for the whole site and this file is only loaded once, the details of which "cascade" down throughout the entire site. The display of the CSS logo shows that we have complied with the standard and that this has been verified using tools available from W3C. Adherence to this standard helps avoid browser incompatibility issues.
